Shearer’s Waterford location is a rural setting and the business was established in 2014.  Production of kettle chips began in July of 2014 with 27 associates.  Current state of our facility includes production of kettle chips, extruded products, airpop popcorn and wet popcorn and employs approximately 260 associates.

Job Description:

Overview

The production supervisor position is responsible for supervising employees in a manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the production process from raw material input to final product packaging on a manufacturing shift. Is responsible for product quality, production efficiency, schedule attainment, safety, and employee relations.  Recommendations on improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions are essential to the job.  Ability to communicate in an effective manner to direct reports and shift team members company gains and losses along with other strategies and initiatives (i.e., programs, policies). 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The production supervisor position requires the incumbent to spend a significant amount of time monitoring and being visible on the production floor, being the expert, managing production, and managing people and relationships:

 

Monitoring

  •          Provides leadership and operational direction to a group of hourly associates (shift oversite)
  •          Ensures associate safety and promotes a safety culture
  •          Ensures product quality and executies Shearer’s quality and food safety programs
  •          Evaluates and improves work processes

 

Being the expert

  •          Thorough knowledge, understanding and implementation of both processing lines and packaging area
  •          Troubleshoots and resolve equipment (machines) and work environment issues

 

Manage production

  •          Receives direction and orders from management or customers
  •          Utilizes the production schedule to develop the most efficient configuration of equipment, labor, and materials usage in order to attain daily / weekly production objectives
  •          Manages production levels to meet company metrics – Drive operational excellence and deliver the plan by recognizing overall performance objligations and establishing performance to satisfy scorecard measurable

 

Manage people and relationships

  •          Lead Change – has a track record of organizing people and leading through a change initiative
  •          Demonstrates good communication skills and team development by leading effective associate relations programs
  •          Provides feedback, coaching and training to those they supervise, to include goal setting and career development (PDP)
  •          Provides timely management reporting
  •          Builds rapport and relationships across cross-functional teams
