Fritz Kohmann - Chief Financial Officer
Fritz Kohmann joined the Shearer’s team in September 2002 as the company’s first Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis, working closely with the sales, manufacturing and operations teams to drive cross-functional initiatives. Within two years, he was promoted to Chief Financial Officer, and now oversees all of the company’s financial operations from the company’s Massillon, Ohio headquarters.
Shearer’s has grown substantially under Fritz’s 10-year tenure as CFO – in fact, the company tripled during his first five years. He has managed the financial aspects of numerous growth-enabling events at the company, including: multiple debt refinancings and restructurings, private equity transactions, facility acquisitions and constructions, production line additions and expansions and strategic business acquisitions.
Meanwhile, Fritz has continued to build and develop Shearer’s financial team and the processes and systems they use to support the growing business – all while meeting increasingly complex financial reporting requirements. He has implemented many improvement initiatives in areas such as treasury management, corporate insurance, health care insurance, 401(k) program administration, incentive plan design, contract administration, trademark and intellectual property administration and corporate sustainability measures to better manage the company’s risks.
Externally, Fritz maintains effective relationships with banks, investors, insurers, accounting and legal firms, leveraging partnerships to capitalize on cost savings and growth opportunities.
To recognize Fritz’s track record of successful fiscal management, Crain’s Cleveland Business magazine named him CFO of the Year for a Large Private Company in 2009.
After earning an accounting degree from The Ohio State University and receiving his CPA, Fritz began his career at the accounting firm Arthur Andersen. He spent two years in the audit practice, and then six years in the consulting practice where he helped large and mid-size companies improve business processes, information systems and management reporting.
Fritz lives in Medina with his wife, Beth, and their sons, Max and Joey.
