Shearer's recently introduced a new name, simply Shearer's, a new logo and new packaging for all of our products. "Our goal was to raise our company's image to a higher level through a new look, which includes contemporary graphics and a more easily recognizable logo. Our new design has a uniform, consistent theme in bright colors translating into a larger shelf presence and more easily identified products," explains Bob Shearer, President/Chief Executive Officer.

In the past year, Shearer's launched a number of successful new products such as Salt and Pepper Kettle Cooked Potato Chips, Margarita Lime Tortilla Chips, Bite Size Tortilla Chips, Butter, Cheese and Caramel Corn Puffs, and a complete line of Wavy Style (rippled) potato chips. To address current health concerns, Shearer's is pro-actively attacking the trans fat issue. The vast majority of Shearer's products have ZERO trans fat. We are now including trans fat information in our nutritional labeling earlier than the government's required date of January 1, 2006.

A few months ago we completed an expansion of our kettle operation. Six batch kettles with automatic stirring systems were commissioned along with a dual-stage peeling system, horizontal motion conveyors, on-line seasoning stations, and packaging machines and weighers with the latest technology available to our industry. This kettle expansion enables future growth opportunities for Shearer's, while assuring our current customers the same world-class service they receive today. With these updates, Shearer's facility packages more kettle potato chips hourly than any other plant in the nation.

Shearer's was proud to be awarded a "Superior" rating on our March 2005 American Baking Institute (AIB) inspection. Dedication to our quality products is the reason Shearer's was named the preferred salty snack supplier for the Cleveland Indians, Pittsburgh Pirates and Akron Aeros for the 2005 baseball season. The Company has been honored with many other awards such as the prestigious Weatherhead 100 Award, as one of the fastest growing companies in Northeast Ohio; the North Coast 99 for six consecutive years, as one of the top employers in Northeast Ohio; and the NEO Success Award, as one of the top-performing companies in Northeast Ohio. Bob Shearer, President and Chief Executive Officer, was honored in June 2004 as an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year FINALIST in the area of manufacturing and distributing.
