In 1990, Shearer's installed our first two hand-kettle fryers with automated stirring systems.
These two hand-kettles were among the very first manufactured in the United
States. Also in 1990, our first wastewater treatment plant, a chemical settling clarifier system,
was completed. That same year we built a new fleet maintenance garage.
We purchased our first computerized
combination weighers in 1994. In
1995 we transitioned to an electrostatic
seasoning system.
In 1996, Shearer's Factory Outlet
Store opened right outside the production
area.

Shearer's production tripled during
the 90s. In 1997, we broke ground
for a major building and product line expansion, which was completed in
October of 1998. We added 59,000 square feet of production, 13,000 square feet of warehouse and 6,000 square feet of office
space. A PC2100 line was installed adding 2100 pounds to our potato chip output per hour, doubling our previous fryer
through puts. Also with this expansion, state-of-the-industry equipment was installed for the production of tortilla chips and
cheese curls.
