As the company continued to grow, a move became necessary. In 1982,
Shearer's purchased a 20,000 square foot facility on ten acres in Brewster,
Ohio, a rural community in southwest Stark County. Before long, six hand-
kettles and a peanut roaster were in operation.
The Grandma Shearer's logo hit the shelves in 1983. The same year, 3,700
pounds of potatoes were processed daily. In 1984, 5,000 square feet of storage
was added to the building.

In 1986, the first continuous fryer, capable of
producing 1,000 pounds of potato chips per hour, was installed,
and 9,000 square feet of warehouse and maintenance space was
added, along with a popcorn line.

As the local market acceptance far surpassed Shearer's ability
to meet demand, the company decided to further expand in
1988. The plant size was increased to 52,000 square feet when
an 18,000 square foot production facility was added, as well as
new state-of-the-art production equipment and a second
continuous fryer. At that time we produced a total of 2,350
pounds of potato chips per hour.
